Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Assisted Living, is responsible for Assisted Living Long Term Care billing coordination and AL reports as needed. Primarily functions in the Medical related areas of La Posada.  Specialist has assistance from campus accounting and finance department as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains records necessary for accurate Long Term Care billing for Assisted Living
  • Bills residents, Medicare and insurance companies.
  • Directs or Records deposits and reconciles residents’ accounts.
  • Responds to inpatient and outpatient inquiries, making referrals as appropriate.
  • Performs balancing procedures monthly.
  • Prepares deposits for the Finance department.
  • Collects or directs the collection of  some aspects of account receivables.
  • Responds to all requests from private insurance or Medicare for additional data.
  • Assists residents and residents’ families with insurance claims.
  • Tracks payer resources and status changes.

 Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four year college or technical school) preferred or equivalent course work and on the job.  Specialized education in the area of insurance claims billing and/or medical billing preferred.
  • Experience in Part B and Insurance billing.  Experience with electronic remittance, EOB and clearinghouse functions. Two years’ experience in office work.
  • Proficient in the use of and mastery of a variety of computer software including data management / accounting / MS Office.
