As the Dining Room Supervisor, you will play a key role in creating an outstanding dining experience for our residents and guests. You’ll lead and support our dining team, ensure seamless daily operations, and maintain the highest standards of service, quality, and hospitality. This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule, as shifts and days will vary based on operational needs.

Position Summary
Ensures that residents and guests have a quality dining experience that meets or exceeds La Posada standards of excellence. Assure a high standard of appearance, hospitality and service in staff and operation of dining rooms. Schedules, manages, trains and develops dining room staff. Manage dining rooms within budgetary guidelines. Provides support and supervises and assists with the provision of servers and for all catered events. Collaborates with Director and other supervisors in the effective and efficient operation of all dining venues on campus.
Essential Functions
- Ensure the serving staff is present for menu meetings and understands the offerings for the day.
- Train, monitor and coach to ensure proper table settings/set-ups.
- Assign, inspect and monitor to ensure side jobs are completed by designated staff on a daily basis.
- Assign dining room sections for effective and efficient high quality service and reasonable distribution of workload.
- Train, monitor, coach and monitor the utilization of POS (Point of Sale) system and resident tracking information to ensure accurate and complete data reporting.
- Work collaboratively with other Dining Room Supervisor to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all dining venues.
- Maintain open lines of communication with the Director of Dining Services, the Catering Manager and other Dining Room Supervisors providing pertinent information about events as they happen to help promote quality dining experiences.
- Analyze and solve routine dining room problems and issues in a manner that provides sound and thoughtful decisions and win-win solutions.
- Provide clear and concise written reports of the daily operational events that affect each dining room and will assist others in the department with managing the operations.
- Manage all aspects of special functions assigned by Catering Manager or other designated personnel to ensure setup is completed in a timely manner. Ensure appropriate staff is scheduled for events in coordination with the Catering Manager and is knowledgeable of the details of the event.
- Provide timely and effective feedback to the cooks to ensure quantity and presentation of food meets La Posada’s standards of excellence.
- Provide any assistance in the Dining Room wherever needed to ensure a quality dining experience.
- Schedule, monitor and enforce lunch breaks, attendance, uniform compliance, appearance, professional courtesy and any other applicable policies or procedures of dining services.
- Ensure that staff is working effectively and efficiently at all times which includes but is not limited to enforcing the "No Hang-Out" Rule, which includes gossiping, openly speaking a foreign language, sitting down in the office, hanging around in the kitchen.
- Responsible for training employees, developing their skills, techniques, personal appearance, sanitation, and safety standards.
- Monitor, evaluate and provide performance reviews to designated staff obtaining feedback from other mangers as needed and with oversight from the Director.
- Monitor, evaluate and determine when corrective action is needed in conjunction with the Director and deliver to employee with the intent of changing the actions or behavior.
- Work collaboratively with other Dining Room Managers to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all dining venues.
- Maintains employee training records and progress forms on each employee.
- Completes a weekly work schedule for designated employees.
- Merchandises food to ensure a professional appearance of the salad and buffet bar.
- Responsible for the operation of the dining area, including accountability of job tasks, opening & closing checklist and side jobs are completed on a daily basis.

Skills and Abilities
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in dining services management or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent background needed to effectively perform job.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
