Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will perform a wide range of remodeling tasks.  These will include but not be limited to installation and repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical and drywall in empty properties and remodel and turnover of assigned locations.  

Essential Functions

• Participates in a range of construction, installation, maintenance and repair of occupied and empty properties remodel and turnover assigned locations including but limited to carpentry, repairs, plumbing, electrical and drywall installation, repair and finishing;

• Performs routine construction, installations, maintenance and repairs of occupied and empty properties remodel and turnover assigned locations.

• Demonstrates superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity. 

• Read and interpret blueprints and be knowledgeable about the local building codes.

• Understand the practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the remodel trade.

• Install, repair, texture and painting of drywall.

• Remove, frame, and repair walls, cabinetry, and shelving.   

• Install kitchen cabinets, countertops, and replace appliances and related plumbing and electrical.   

• Perform demolition following the instructions of the manager or lead using appropriate tools for this process.  

• Install windows, doors/hardware, and interior and exterior trim.  

• Repair walls, floors, cabinets, and ceilings from leaks or other damage.  

• Responsible for documenting any work as required.  

• Select tools, equipment, and/or materials from storage and transport items to work site in a timely and safe manner. 

• Understand the occupational hazards of the remodel trade and necessary safety precautions.

• Understand construction and remodel fundamentals and terminology.

• Perform assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision.

• Perform physical inventory of materials.

• Effectively use common hand tools such as hammers, saws, screwdrivers, or similar tools.

• Operate power driven machinery such as roto-hammers, saws, drills or cutting equipment. 

•This role requires the ability to work flexibly and deal constructively with unanticipated/variable situations including cooperative and not so cooperative residents and their varied home conditions. In common areas you must be able to work with other departments and to consider the schedules of others. 

• Clean work areas and equipment at the end of each job and/or day, to maintain a clean and safe work area. 

• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

• This position may require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon work location, assignment or shift.
